Myeloma Sucks

Thousands of lives are depending on it.

Multiple myeloma, also known as myeloma, is the 2nd most common form of blood cancer with 9 Canadians diagnosed every day. Surprisingly, in spite of its growing prevalence, myeloma still remains relatively unknown.

We need to change that so we can find a cure.

Everything about myeloma sucks. The fact that symptoms are vague so diagnosis is often missed or delayed. The fact that this delay can lead to painful bone fractures and cause organ damage affecting long-term quality of life. The fact that myeloma is commonly considered a 65+ disease, but in actuality people in their 30’s and 40’s are also being diagnosed. The fact that because it affects a type of immune cell, called a plasma cell found in the bone marrow, myeloma can cause recurrent or serious infections. The fact that this can be a very painful and debilitating disease. What’s more, the fact that this cancer is characterized by cycles of remission and relapse where most patients never get a break from treatment, sucks big time.

But you can help change that by getting involved.

Together let’s raise awareness for myeloma so that thousands of Canadians impacted by this incurable disease can lead the best quality of life for as long as possible.
